Forte Design Systems Introduces Perspective Language Independent Verification Results Analysis
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 2001--Forte Design
Systems, Inc., today introduced Perspective(TM), the first product
that provides sophisticated simulation results analysis in a runtime
or post-processing environment. This unique product speeds the
verification process, allowing parallel verification of simulation
data results. In addition, Perspective dramatically increases
verification productivity by allowing simulation results to be
visualized while maintaining design context and abstraction.
Perspective is the latest ``plug-in'' to Forte's recently announced
GigaScale Hub(TM).
Perspective provides design and verification engineers with
greater capability and flexibility than previously available in
verification automation products. Typically, testbench data generation
and data results analysis are performed in the same environment using
a Hardware Verification Language (HVL). Perspective, in combination
with the GigaScale Hub, breaks this traditional use model allowing a
complete separation of the generation and analysis portions of the
testbench resulting in more productive verification.
``It's well known that HVLs can become slow when performing both
complex data generation and runtime-data monitoring,'' said John
Sanguinetti, Forte's chief technology officer. ``Using the GigaScale
Hub and Perspective, design and verification teams can use C++, HDLs,
or other HVLs for data generation and perform results analysis
separately in either of two modes: at simulation runtime or after
simulation using a captured database. The result is a faster, more
productive verification process.''
``I'm pleased to announce our second product resulting from the
combination of CynApps and Chronology and the next plug-in to our
GigaScale Hub,'' said Jacob Jacobsson, president and CEO of Forte
Design Systems Inc. ``Perspective is a great step forward for design
and verification teams in need of increased verification productivity
and scalability. In combination with our GigaScale methodology and
QuickBench, Perspective will improve verification of designs of all
sizes, including those scaling into the billions of gates.''
About Perspective
In addition to the multi-mode operation, Perspective adds
functionality not easily available using traditional HVLs including
advanced temporal analysis, functional coverage, and assertion
capabilities. Perspective also includes a new graphical user interface
(GUI) for visualization and exploration of complex transaction data
while preserving the intended abstraction level making debugging
significantly easier. Perspective will be featured at Forte Design
Systems' booth No. 3611 at this year's Design Automation Conference in
Las Vegas, Nevada, June 18 through June 21.
Features and Benefits of Perspective
- Advanced Temporal Analysis -- provides in-depth analysis of
the relationships between signals, sets of signals, and
transactions.
- Hierarchical Signal and Transaction-level Pattern Matching --
for assertions, logging, and analysis of complex criteria.
- Functional Coverage -- allows engineers to specify conditions
and measure coverage to ensure the testbench has covered the
design vectors completely.
- Visualization and Exploration GUI -- dramatically reduces
debug and analysis time by preserving context and abstraction
throughout the process.
- Run-time and Post-processing Capability -- all analysis can be
executed during simulation runtime for real-time monitoring of
transaction data. In addition, Perspective can perform
parallel post-processing analysis on multiple machines without
multiple simulation licenses.
The GigaScale Methodology
Designed to conquer challenges inherent in the verification and
design of today's large systems and integrated circuits (ICs), Forte
Design Systems' GigaScale Hub methodology gives users the freedom to
plug in their choice of multiple languages and tools for design and
verification. This enables verification teams to write tests and
functions in C++/Cynlib for high-performance, and call them from
Forte's powerful verification language, RAVE. RAVE and C++/Cynlib are
the first of a series of design and verification plug-ins to the Hub
being developed by Forte.
Pricing and Availability
List price for the Perspective results analysis product is U.S.
$20,000 for a single-floating license and is available on Linux,
Solaris, HP, and Windows. Introductory pricing for current QuickBench
customers is U.S. $17,500 through Q3 2001.
